The AEV EX Front Bumper for JL Wrangler/Gladiator sets the standard for front-end protection with a slew of novel design elements and manufacturing procedures that set it apart from the competition – including factory options. The EX Front Bumper was designed by enthusiasts and tested in the real world to deliver the highest degree of practicality, aesthetics, and protection for your car.
The EX Front Bumper is made of Hot Stamped Boron Steel (HSBS), a lightweight, press hardened steel that is often employed in automotive applications for passenger impact protection due to its high yield strength. We were able to provide a Front Bumper that is far stronger than our prior full-width bumper designs without significantly increasing the total weight by employing this material and method. This is something we’ve been extremely cognizant of, and most OEMs now use lightweight materials as a weight-saving technique as well. A Hot Stamped Boron Steel Front Bumper Skid plate is also available to protect all of the essential components just beneath the bumper.
The EX Front Bumper’s stamped, full-width construction provides optimum protection for the essential front suspension components that may often render a vehicle unusable when damaged in a collision. Furthermore, the EX Front Bumper’s aerodynamic design helps direct air up and over the Wrangler’s fender flares rather than trapping it inside the flare, as many aftermarket bumpers do, increasing drag and lowering fuel economy. The added benefits of the EX Front Bumper’s full-width design do not come at the price of reduced tyre clearance or approach angle. In fact, the EX Front Bumper is taller than the OEM winch bumper and has a superior approach angle.
Because lighting is essential for safety traversing rugged backcountry terrain, the AEV EX Front Bumper enables the installation of two AEV 7000 series lights using AEV’s optional Off-Road Light Brackets (sold separately). These brackets go below the roto-moulded centre hoop, which has an unusual design that allows you to run wires down the back of the hoop without there being visible or exposed to the weather. When opposed to standard bumper-mounted light mounts, having the lights hanging from the hoop gives for greater access to the winch and airflow to the radiator. The EX Front Bumper is compatible with all OEM fog light choices and integrates neatly with the included brackets and bezel.
A Trail Camera Relocation Kit is now available to move your front trail camera (if fitted) to the bottom of the centre hoop, giving you a clear view of the barrier ahead. A 20″ LED Light Bar may be fitted beneath the optional Front Bumper Skid Plate, giving extra light lower to the ground, which is especially useful in adverse weather like fog and snow (requires AEV Winch Mount).
With two Hi-Lift Jack guides and a pair of heavy-duty, chassis-mounted recovery points that have been proven to satisfy all OE load criteria and are designed for 3/4′′ anchor shackles, the EX Front Bumper is up for any recovery challenge that may present itself. With the use of AEV’s optional Winch Mount, a 10,000lb Warn Zeon 10-S winch (or other similarly sized winches) may be fitted to the EX Front Bumper. The EX Front Bumper’s precisely designed profile allows for easy access and a clear view of your winch cable, which is a common complaint among users of the factory winch bumper and many other aftermarket solutions.
