Over ten years ago, AEV was the first to bring OE-level suspension engineering to the aftermarket. With our 2.5′′ DualSport RT Suspension System for the JL Wrangler, we’re carrying on the tradition.
Coil spring and shock adjustment were critical for providing the best blend of load-bearing capability and ride quality that AEV consumers have grown to expect. The 2.5″ DualSport RT Suspension System adds 2.5″ to the front and rear ride height with a pair of our frequency-tuned, triple-rate coil springs. The JL Wrangler comes with a relatively soft coil spring and a pretty harsh shock package out of the box, which isn’t ideal for expedition travel with higher baggage loads. As a result, we chose progressive rate coil springs with increased load management capabilities, which we matched with AEV-tuned Bilstein 5100 series shock absorbers for a slightly firmer, livelier ride. The AEV/Bilstein coil spring and shock combo employed in this suspension not only boosts up and down travel, but also improves articulation, off-road speed potential, and bottoming control.
The front and rear suspension geometry of the JL Wrangler has then tuned over the whole range of motion, giving you the dynamic, responsive handling that AEV suspension systems are known for. A pair of AEV’s heavy-duty control arm geometry correction brackets are provided to adjust the frontend geometry for enhanced ride quality and less nose dive under harsh braking. A rear track bar tower extension is provided to improve turn-in responsiveness while also correcting the rear roll centre. New front and rear bump stop spacers increase bumper/axle contact under full articulation and jounces, while longer front and rear sway bar end links compensate for the extra lift height. Because of the reduced lift height of this suspension system, no OE track bars, control arms, or steering components are required.
When replacing a 35″ or larger tire with the standard scissor jack, the JL Jack Base provides increased safety and stability.
Maximum recommended tire sizes*
• Sport/Sahara (North America): 35×12.50R17
• Rubicon (North America): 37×12.50R17
• Sport/Sahara/Rubicon (Export): 35×12.50R17
* All maximum tyre size recommendations come from AEV’s product development process, which includes the use of AEV wheels and BFGoodrich tyres. AEV products are carefully planned, developed, and tested to function along with other AEV products. At full jounce or full lock, mixing aftermarket or factory components with AEV components may create interference/tire rubbing.
