Description

Front Control Arm Drop Brackets from AEV combines suspension performance into a tiny and economical package. These drop brackets will enhance front-end ride quality (expansion joints, ledges), boost anti-dive for better braking performance, reduce the front driveshaft’s working angle range, and remove the requirement for adjustable control arms or cam bolts for caster correction. Front control arm drop brackets are standard on all AEV 3.5″/4.5″ DualSport suspensions. However, they may also be fitted to AEV’s 2.5″ DualSport suspension and suspensions from other manufacturers. For further information, see the Tech Specs.

Characteristics:

  • Improve front impact ride quality (expansion joints, ledges) – The suspension is allowed to perform in a more natural condition by decreasing the working angle of the front control arms. This implies that the force delivered to the control arms after striking a bump is channelled up into the springs rather than back into the frame. An AEV 3.5″ lifted JK “thinks” it’s only raised 1.25″.
  • Change the instant centre to boost Anti-Dive for better braking performance. By raising the anti-dive geometry of the suspension, you’ll find that when the control arm brackets are employed, the front of the car rarely drops during solid brakes. Traction is enhanced by boosting front-wheel force for better straight-line braking, and handling is substantially improved by lowering shifting weight and inertia while braking in bends.
  • Reduce the front driveshaft’s working angle range – This is commonly ignored. Because aftermarket double Cardan joints lack the torque rating (1850 lb/ft for a 1310 double Cardan, 2150 lb/ft for the OE CV Joint) and cannot function as smoothly, keeping the OEM CV units is preferable for most JK users. The Front Control Arm Brackets spin the pinion up when the axle descends, preventing shredded CV boots and extending the vehicle’s life.
  • Remove the requirement for caster correction using adjustable control arms or cam bolts. We’ve emphasized the advantages of utilizing the original control arms for a long time because of the manufacturer’s pre-loaded rubber OE Bushings, which have yet to be matched by any aftermarket bushing. The necessary caster ranges may now be reached thanks to these new brackets.

Please note: Drop brackets are not a replacement for adjustable control arms. It’s common to believe that more expensive adjustable control arms have the same effect as AEV’s control arm brackets. The brackets are cheaper alternatives to supplying adjustable control arms. Nothing could be farther from the truth; both components serve distinct purposes and have a home beneath a Jeep. Both models include the ability to alter the castor angle, which is the source of most misunderstandings.

AEV’s drop brackets change four distinct parameters:

  1. – Improves riding quality by lowering the arm angle.
  2. – Improves braking by lowering the immediate centre (anti-dive).
  3. – Reduces the range of travel, lowering the working angle of the driveshaft.
  4. – Corrects the angle of the caster.

Adjustable control arms can help you dial in the right caster angle. Still, they can’t help you with the rest of the parameters, and they make the instant centre, ride quality, and driveshaft angles worse than standard. Drop brackets can’t achieve all that adjustable control arms can:

  1. You may need to move the axle location forward or aft with aftermarket HD axles.
  2. For aftermarket Cardan or Double Cardan driveshafts, change the pinion angles.
  3. After a small frame damage accident, correct minor suspension geometry aberrations.
